Top US, UK insurance figures to address ABIR forum

Press Releases

Hamilton, Bermuda, June 26, 2018—Two senior American insurance regulatory leaders and the CEO of the UK government-backed terrorism reinsurer will be keynote speakers at a 25th-anniversary leadership forum hosted next month by the Association of Bermuda Insurers & Reinsurers (ABIR). They join Bermuda Premier David Burt and former Premier Sir John Swan among a slate of high-profile speakers.

Florida Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier, Mike Consedine, CEO of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and former Insurance Commissioner of Pennsylvania, and Julian Enoizi, CEO of Pool Re, will address the July 10 event at Rosewood Bermuda. Altmaier will give his perspective on the critical Florida market, while the NAIC’s Consedine will speak on US and international insurance regulatory issues. Enoizi’s remarks will focus on work being done by Pool Re, the British mutual reinsurer established in 1993 as a public-private partnership.

“We feel honoured to have David, Mike and Julian, all highly respected figures in our industry, attend and participate in this special leadership forum,” said Kevin O’Donnell, President and CEO of RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd. and current Chair of ABIR. “With ABIR’s roots 25 years ago in the formation of new companies and strategies addressing the policyholder and insurance market needs that emerged following Hurricane Andrew in Florida, it’s particularly appropriate to have these senior regulatory experts, entrusted to safeguard consumers and oversee the market, share their views and vision for the future with forum participants.”

“The participation of these US and UK leaders underscores the Bermuda market’s global prominence, and they will further enhance an already impressive line-up of industry speakers, including government leaders and former and current CEOs, that we’re proud to include in our program,” said John Huff, ABIR President and CEO.

The keynotes will join nearly 20 leading representatives of Bermuda’s global insurance market set to debate the state of the industry, the island’s impact over the past quarter century, and major trends affecting risk management around the world.
